Provide technical expertise and advice to the Tax Affairs Executive Director and Department Directors on tax policy development and improvement in alignment with UAE government principles. Provide guidance on the development and implementation of compliance and enforcement strategies that would maximise tax revenues.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and advice on the formulation and review of the tax policy and legislation.
Analyse tax policy trends, FTA performance and draw conclusions as to the relevance for tax policies.
Advise on addressing possible tax-related conflicts.
Proactively recommend improvements to the tax policy.
Advise on the best ways to assess operational risks and develop risk management strategies.
Direct and support periodic internal reviews or audits to assess compliance procedures.
Design the improvements in communication, monitoring, or enforcement of tax policies.
Keep informed regarding pending laws, industry changes, trends and best practices, assessing the potential impact of these changes on tax policies.
Provide advice on investigation efforts to the Tax Compliance and Enforcement Director, in order to optimise revenue collection.
Advise on overall enforcement efforts.
Help in monitoring tax compliance systems to assess their effectiveness.
Liaise with IT Business Alignment team to assess FTA’s IT systems’ ability to address technical needs and compliance with FTA policies.
Ensure that information published on FTA website is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Advise on suitability of material to be published on FTA website in coordination with the Government Communication team
Advise internal management or business partners on the implementation and operation of tax compliance and enforcement programmes.
Consult with Tax Registration and Returns, Tax Compliance and Enforcement and Legal, as necessary, to address difficult tax compliance and enforcement issues.
Contribute to employee training on tax policy, enforcement and compliance-related topics or procedures.
Educational Qualifications and Certifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred: Master’s and/or certifications in relevant field (CTA, CTP)
Minimum: 8+ years’ of relevant experience, 5 among which in Tax Policy
Preferred: Experience in tax functions in government entities
Languages: Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English
